Yeh aam aadmi ki sarkar nahin hai

When election results were out and it became apparant that congress will form a coalition government at the center, a friend asked me, who will be the Prime Minister? I did not hesitate a bit to say Manmohan Singh. I still feel that he is the best choice amongst available lot but my 'zero' hurt at that time is now very deep. Almost every action of this government under Manmohan Singh has hurt me.

I was hurt when he started his innings by inducting in his cabinet those having criminal records and also those who were defeated by the people in the election. When this was opposed he defended it by saying that NDA govt also had such people and it is the compulsion of coalition politics. My hurt started becoming deeper. It was time when he could have simply refused to induct such tainted politicians in his cabinet. He could have taken a tough stand. Indian people were with him. But he choose to compromise and that was the beginning of compromises. he has been making compromises every other day and every other day my hurt is increasing. Will I never see a role model politician in my life?

People did not start respecting him after he became PM. Today also people do not respect him only because he is PM. Rather they are displeased with him as PM. He was a role model for them as an India, a person. They wanted him to be a role model as a politician also. But he failed them.

WHY DID I EXPECT MAMMOHAN SIMGH TO BE A ROLE MODEL POLITICIAN?

He is a successful Indian citizen, a nice person, a highly satisfactory family life and has lot of admirers. Such a person, I thought, can become a role model politician as:
a) he will not be pressurized to compromise under any situation.
b) he will not have any strings atached which might force him to oblize wrong people.
c) he will not compromise on principles to gather support under conditions which will force him to compromise later.
d) he will not believe in vote bank politics as he will like to be judged by his actions, policies and programmes.
e) he will be straight forward and will not seek justifications for his actions.
f) there will be no difference between his thoughts, words and actions.

I still feel that I was right. But what has gone wrong? Why Manmohan Singh has failed to become a role model politician? He has only become a politician amongst many. It hurts me.

You are right, yeh aam aadmi ki sarkar nahin hai. Yeh to kuch khas logo ki sarkar hai jo kursi mai bane rehne ke liye kuch bhi galat ya sahi karne ko taiyaar hai.

DOES PM REPRESENT THE ENTIRE COUNTRY OR ONLY THE POLITICAL PARTY HE BELONGS TO?

There are some constiutional posts in India which are above party politics. Once a person (most of the time this person is a politician) is appointed/elected to that post he ceases to be a member of the political party he belonged to. Prime Minister of India is one such post. I feel hurt that Manmohan Singh has failed to do so. Most of the time he behaves as though, as PM, he is repesenting only congress party or to be exact Sonia Gandhi, the chairperson of congress party. It is correct that he was not elected as PM but was nominated to this post by Sonia Gandhi. But whatever might have have the ciscumstances of his nomination as PM, he is now PM and he is expected to behave as PM of the largest democracy in this world. No action of him, directly or indirectly, should give an indication that his decisions are first approved by Sonia Gandhi. It gives a very bad image of India to outside world.

Aam aadmi ki sarkar aisi nahin hoti. This is a government of babus, for babus and by babus. The head of the government himself has been a babu. By saying 'governance with human face' the head babu means face of babus and not the people.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is not representing entire people of India. He is only representing babus, his party and other parties supporting his govt. Aam aadmi is always neglected.

You are right. This is not the government of common people. This is the government of corrupt politicians and babus. Office-of-profit bill provides protection to corrupt MPs and MLAS. Proposed amendment to RTI Act will give protection to corrupt babus. Where are common men in this entire governance process?
